Hello, I’m Tzu-Chen

Born and raised in Taiwan until the age of 27, I came to the United States in 2014. Having lived in different states, Seattle is where I call home currently. I love the seasonal colors the pacific northwest offers and the easy access to mountains and islands (plus it’s closer to Asia compared to the east coast). While embracing the beauty of Seattle, what I miss the most about Taiwan is the sensation of the tropical fruits dancing on my tongue.

It has been quite a journey for me to grasp who I am and how my Asian presence takes up space here in the States. I acknowledge the areas I feel privileged (e.g., cisgender, heterosexual, able-body, neurotypical) and those I feel oppressed (e.g., ethnicity). During my first few years in the States, I had always wished to have someone affirming my experience and help me find my voice. After many years of constantly being aware of how my identities intersect with my surroundings, I have become my strongest partner via personal work and community support. Throughout my experiences with clients, I also come to recognize the impact of white supremacy and intergenerational trauma on our sense of safety, belonging, and mental health. My work aims to support clients in building a relationship with themselves, liberating them from internalized harmful narratives, and anchoring who they are.

I am licensed both in Taiwan (since 2012) and in Washington State (since 2019). I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Aside from EMDR, my clinical foundation roots primarily in parts work, which includes Internal Family System (IFS) and Ego State therapy.

In my free time, I am busy practicing self-care. In the COVID-19 era, I interpret self-care as trying out new hobbies and getting creative.
